Wildly Clean

We make sure that you get the highest quality plant medicine in every bottle. Our herbs are what we call “wildly clean” — meaning they’re a mix of both organically grown and ethically harvested from their natural habitats by our community of wildcrafters.

  • Our Farmers

We source from incredible humans around the world - from the community in Vanuatu who harvests our Kava Root for Peace Juice, to the husband and wife duo in New Mexico who retired from law careers in order to start a biodynamic farm and fulfill their true calling.

  • Symbiosis

Several of the farmers we work with rotate beneficial-bug-attracting crops like sunflowers around our herbs to create a symbiotic ecosystem that protects both the land and the plants. The goal is not to have perfect looking herbs, but ones that get stronger due to natural challenges in their environment.

  • Wildcrafting

The traditional wildcrafting code of ethics taught by our teachers maintains that you ensure you’re in a healthy, unsprayed area. You may only forage from a large stand of plants that you’ve seen at least thrice before. “Never taking the first means never taking the last.”

    Harvest bythe moon

Plants go through cycles and seasons, just like us humans. For maximum harmony with Earth’s rhythms, it’s a wonderful practice to harvest based on season, time of day, and even lunar cycle.

    Extraction

All of our tinctures are extracted using percolation rather than maceration. In fact, percolation is the main way that old school apothecaries used to make herbal extracts. Percolation tinctures are made by finely grinding whole fresh or dried herbs to maximize surface area, which increases our access to the active phytochemicals. The next step involves moistening that powder with solvent, and allowing it to expand before packing it perfectly into a glass cone — not too tight, not too loose.

The rest of the extraction solvent is then poured over top as the potent, finished tincture slowly drips from the bottom over the course of several hours. Not only does this make for a faster process than maceration, it makes for a stronger end product since the most soluble constituents are picked up first, leaving room for the rest to slowly trickle out. At the end you’re left with the most complete, full-spectrum extraction possible. This is how your tinctures are made, and it’s the reason why our potency aka “herb strength ratio” often comes close to 1:2.

Just like people, herbs work better together.

When you look at wild ecosystems, you may notice how certain plants and botanicals naturally balance each other out. This is nature's wisdom at work. Learning how to work with complementary herbs is the cornerstone to formulation for each and every product in our line.

    A communitythat became a family

The inspiration behind each and every formula in our apothecary came from real life need, often from one of the incredible humans in this community who reached out to let us know of a solution that was needed. What started as a simple blog grew because of the collaboration and camaraderie within the herb fam, and we're excited to keep growing with you.
